expand/collapse Bush's Plame-gate Cover-up
by Robert Parry
In early fall 2003, George W. Bush joined in what appears to have been a criminal cover-up to conceal the role of his White House in exposing the classified identity of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson.

expand/collapse Satire: McClellan Taken into Custody by FBI
by Dood Abides
Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan was taken into custody early this evening by FBI agents. He appeared before a Fairfax, VA judge to enter a plea against charges of treason issued late today by the White House. McClellan had earlier in the day released a passage from his upcoming book in which he accuses both the vice president and president of complicity in the cover-up of the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame.

Today's Quotes:

"What exactly would it take for the president to conclude Musharraf has crossed the line? Suspend the constitution? Impose emergency law? Beat and jail his political opponents and human rights activists? He’s already done all that. If the president sees Musharraf as a democrat, he must be wearing the same glasses he had on when he looked in Vladimir Putin’s soul."
- Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joseph Biden (D-DE)

"I love Thanksgiving turkey. It's the only time in Los Angeles that you see natural breasts."
- Arnold Schwarzenegger

"I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old-fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land."
- Jon Stewart
Editor's Notes & Rants:

There can be no more doubt what Dubya means when he says "democracy." Regarding Pakistan's Musharraf declaring absolute dictatorship, Bush said yesterday, "He hasn't crossed the line. As a matter of fact, I don't think that he will cross any lines. I think he truly is somebody who believes in democracy." So now you know what it is that Bush has been trying to spread around the world these last 6 years. [WP]

Pentagon demands US double its funding for Pakistani dicatator Musharraf.

Blackmail: Pentagon threatening to lay off up to 200,000 civilian workers for Christmas if we don't give them $196,000,000,000 more to kill innocent brown people in Iraq. That's one million dollars for each American who's Christmas they don't ruin. Still in doubt about who the real terrorists are?

House and Senate committees approve bills to expand Bush's power to spy on them -- and US. The House bill does not include retroactive immunity for telecoms who violated the rights of Americans, but of course once the Rethuglicans threaten a fillibuster, they'll put it in, giving Bush all he asked for, and more. Once again begging the question: Why the hell does the Democratic Party even exist?

NeoCrazy Ari Fleisher "test marketing" war on Iran.

I've been reluctant to even report on the excerpt from former White House Smokescreen Scott McClellan's book, which appears to indicate that the Bush and Cheney were involved in getting him to lie about Rove and Libby's guilt in outing covert CIA agent Valerie Plame. McClellan is such a professional brown-noser, he's liable to retract it all if he gets a call from Cheney. I was surprised not to hear him weasel out by the end of the day yesterday, and now Senator Dodd is calling for the Justice Dept. to investigate.
