expand/collapse Georgia On My Mind
John McCain, the US and the latest Russian crisis
by Derek Jennings
I'm sorry, but previous presidential election cycles, particularly the last two, have consumed all of my patience. Damn those civics classes for duping me into believing that every four years we Americans carry out our sacred duties, selecting a president in solemn and sober fashion.

Haven't we already tried the 'Which guy would you rather have a beer with?' method of presidential selection? And is not the misery of the last eight years its direct result? If it is our national intent to continue this full speed devolution into Idiocracy, let's dispense with the pretense. Perhaps if we were all in on the joke, if there were no preening and self-importance involved, and we acknowledged that our presidential politics were every bit as shallow and capricious as the American Idol judging process, I'd feel much better about it.

expand/collapse Get Ready For a GOP Hate-fest Orgy Like No Other
by Richard Stitt
The reality is, no matter how optimistic and hopeful most Americans are or whether we believe that we need a clean break from the despotic, anti-US Constitution rule-by-decree of GW Bush and his cortege of cronies and kleptocrats, all too many will vote against their own interests out of sheer prejudice.

Screech Radio with their legions of blind-faith ovines, are confident that their messages of hate, slander, and calumny will energize the racists and xenophobes to go to the polls and vote, not for hope and change, but against a black man.

expand/collapse Democrats Should Remove Joe Lieberman as Committee Chairman
by Brent Budowsky
Joe Lieberman has questioned Barack Obama's patriotism, and for that he should be removed as chairman of any congressional committee or subcommittee by Democratic leaders. The minute Lieberman said that Barack Obama does not put our country first is the minute that he disqualified himself from being chairman of any committee in a Democratic Congress.

expand/collapse Dukakis vs. Tyson
by RJ Eskow
"FightTheSmears.com"? Not good enough. It's time for "StartSomeShit.Com."

History doesn't just repeat itself. For the Democrats it's like a broken record. Once again the party's blowing a healthy lead by being reluctant to engage its opponent. It's Groundhog Day, starring Michael Dukakis.

expand/collapse Now That’s Rich
by Paul Krugman
Mr. McCain wants to preserve almost all the Bush tax cuts, and add to them by cutting taxes on corporations. Mr. Obama wants to roll back the high-end Bush tax cuts — the cuts in tax rates on the top two income brackets and the cuts in tax rates on income from dividends and capital gains — and use some of that money to reduce taxes lower down the scale.

Of course, all the evidence in the world won’t stop Republicans from claiming, as they always do, that Democrats are going to impose a crippling tax burden on ordinary hard-working Americans. But it just ain’t so.

expand/collapse Heard Any Good "John McCain's Got a Lot of Houses" Jokes?
by RJ Eskow
Hey, John McCain can't remember how many houses he has! It's not his fault, though. He had the number written down but he left it in his other plane.

Don't blame McCain. He couldn't resist that "buy six mansions, get one free" sale at Countrywide.

Today's Quote:

"Partisanship is our great curse. We too readily assume that everything has two sides and that it is our duty to be on one or the other."
- James Harvey Robinson
Editor's Notes & Rants:

America the fucked. McCain promises to fix all of America's problems by following the same policies that created those problems, and Obama promises to fix them by endlessly chanting the magic words "change" and "hope." If the American voters are stupid enough to vote for either of them, then they'll just get what they deserve.

"All your children are belong to US." McCain says he "doesn't disagree" with reinstating the military draft.

McCain: The Real Elitist

John McCain is such an 'average guy' that he doesn't even know how many houses he owns.

Forget "welfare queens", how about "welfare billionaires"?

Poor old McCain, he gave up on learning new technology when the telephone was invented.

Nuclear Tit4Tat. In response to US plans to base missiles in Poland, Russia to base missiles in Syria. Which means if Israel attacks Iran, they won't even have time to get to a shelter before Tel Aviv is vaporized.

Obama (Jackass Party) campaign caught selling "free" tickets for $1000 each. I guess in an Obama administration, "free" speech will be run the same way.

Location of DNC "freedom cages" and "lil' Gitmo" announced. Because, let's face it, the DNC is just as in love with the idea of a police state as the GOP.

Poll: majority of Americans say the church has no business in politics. First Church of the GOP disagrees, it's their only business!
